LegUp - For Kawasaki Vulcan/Nomad
LegUp™ is happy to announce that it has been adapted to the Kawasaki Vulcan/Nomad family of touring bikes! Now you Kawasaki owners that could use a LegUp™ can get one.
It took quite a bit of engineering, but as you can see from the
pictures the system looks and works great!! The exhaust on the Nomad caused us to have to change our jigs for clearance, but the wheels are the same width as other LegUp™ Systems. At this moment we are not sure exactly which years it fits, but we have installed it on 2 different bikes (A 98 Vulcan and this 99 Nomad). We are in the process of checking out other years for differences and will let you know what it fits when we are done.
We had to design a new regulator bracket for the Vulcan (the Nomad doesn't have the regulators in the back, 2 are mounted up front!), as the existing one was right in the way of the mechanism, and we had to supply new oil filters that will allow the LegUp™ System to coexist with the maintenance program of the motorcycle. We are very pleased with the result!

The system costs $3,495 (or consider our LITE system for $500 less!), and is available immediately! If you are having trouble handling the weight of these bikes as they stop, this system is going to make your riding so much more comfortable.
The wheels work exactly like the system on the big bikes. They can be deployed just before the bike stops, and retract automatically upon acceleration. You can even lean the bike somewhat with the wheels lowered. When the wheels are up, the bike is not compromised at all! Lean into turns all you like... You can't do that on a trike or other outrigger-type systems.
Minimal structural changes are required to install or remove the LegUp™ system on the Kawasaki. One cover just needed a hole to be drilled to allow our wire harness through it.
